Joy Orbison, SHERELLE, DJ EZ, more locked for BBC Radio 1 residencies

BBC Radio 1 has revealed a new line-up for its Residency show.

Joy Orbison, DJ EZ, Amelie Lens and Disclosure have all newly joined the rotation of residents for six monthly shows. SHERELLE, Eris Drew & Octo Octa, Teki Latex, and Saoirse will all return having first joined the line-up earlier this year, with Paul Woolford, Grimes, Caribou and Denis Sulta all departing the show.

“I’ve grown up listening to Fabio & Grooverider, Benji B, Gilles Peterson and more,” Joy Orbison says, “so it means a great deal to have my own show on a station with such an important legacy.”

The new line-up will join the show from September 7th, getting underway with Joy Orbison and Eris Drew & Octo Octa. The show will air each Monday on Radio 1 from 1am until 3am BST.

Joy Orbison’s addition to the Residency series follows on from the release of last year’s ‘Slipping’ EP and a collaborative record with Overmono.

I grew up listening to @fabioandgrooverider, @djflight, @_benjib, @gillespeterson & more so it means a great deal to me to have my own show on a station with such an important legacy. i’m really looking forward to delving into the music scenes that excite me at the moment and give a shine to new artists that I feel need to be heard. catch the first show of my new @bbcradio1 residency on the 7th of September at 1am. I’ve got a very special minimix from @felixhall88 and @jamesmassiah joining me in the studio ! x P
