Premiere: Martini ‘Show Me’

Premiere: Martini ‘Show Me’

New York’s Kindergarten Records has announced a new V/A EP, ‘Fluo III’, out later this month. Listen to Martini’s ‘Show Me’ below.

The three-tracker finds two emerging names descending down from the cosmos and onto the label, as New York-based artists Palitra and Martini find their feet alongside a solo track from label founder, Ma Sha.

Describing her sound as “digital biophony”, Brooklyn-based Martini finds inspiration in the soundscapes of the natural world. ‘Show Me’ is made of appropriately unusual materials— wet, fleshy bleeps, bubbly, liquid drips, and a whole vat of breaks — that feel right at home in the Kindergarten catalogue.

Ma Sha conducts her own experiments in timbre and texture on ‘Sea Through Fantasia’, churning out playful wigged-out rhythms and warping basslines like nobody’s business, before Palitra leads off ‘Fluo III’ with ‘Cold Shoulder’, his first release in over a year. Calling on mid-2000s drumfunk and the subby jams of the Scientific Wax and Inperspective labels, it’s a proper time-warping, bass-churner.

Since its inception in 2020, Kindergarten has quickly become a hotbed for hyperactive club music with the likes of Ziyiz, Drummy, Ayesha, and most recently Sobolik, all debuting on the label.

‘Fluo III’ will be released on 23rd June. Pre-order it here.
