Jaguar launches new record label, UTOPIA, with Van Damn single

Jaguar is starting up a new record label called UTOPIA. Listen to the debut single, ‘Can’t Grumble’ by Van Damn, below.

The BBC Radio 1 host is expanding the UTOPIA brand, originally launched as a club night in 2020, with plans to release a new single every month. On Twitter, Jaguar said the label’s mission is to “champion emerging electronic acts WORLDWIDE with fun club tunes with a twinkle in their eye”.

The debut release is by Scottish DJ and producer Van Damn, who runs Dundee’s All Good parties and the Good Trax label. “Song was made during the midst of the pandemic when I genuinely was at a real massive crossroads in terms of career and if I’d actually continue working to DJ etc.”, he said on Instagram. “Jaggy picking this tune up honestly gave me the biggest boot up the arse (with positivity) and spurned me on to continue producing and doing what I love.”

In 2021, Jaguar launched a dance music podcast under the UTOPIA banner.

Revisit Kristan J Caryl’s interview with Jaguar from March 2021 in which she discusses being a national radio figure, representation and more.
