Kyiv’s Standard Deviation announces new album from Chaosy, ‘KATAKOMBA’

Kyiv label Standard Deviation has shared details of its next release, a mini-album by Kyiv artist Chaosy called ‘KATAKOMBA’.

Spanning six tracks, the record draws on the sleazy metal and post-punk that Chaosy, real name Bogdan Temchenko, grew up listening to having joined his first metal band at the age of 13.

Writing about Temchenko’s background, Standard Deviation said: “Bogdan’s upbringing in the grainy basements of Kyiv’s punk pubs found reflection in his ideology and his music. He is currently active in two bands: black metal formation Angel, where he plays drums and a post-punk project Lyrica, where he sings and plays guitar.

“While devoted to analog sound, in recent years Bogdan has been finding it more and more difficult to get together with his bandmates, so he started experimenting with electronic music on his own. That’s how his solo project, Chaosy, came to life.”

Standard Deviation will release ‘KATAKOMBA’ on 8th March. You can listen to lead cut ‘Shaolean’ below.

The release arrives off the back of a 20-track fundraiser compilation that Standard Deviation put out in November of last year, featuring tracks by DJ Stingray 313, Marcel Dettmann and more.
