Watch Gorillaz debut collaboration with Tame Impala and Bootie Brown, ‘New Gold’, at All Points East

Attendees at All Points East were given an unexpected bonus this weekend when Gorillaz were joined on stage by Tame Impala and Bootie Brown for the first airing of a brand new track, ‘New Gold’. You can watch the performance below.

Set to be released soon and already available to pre-save, the life collaboration was just one from a number of high profile guest appearances, with De La Soul, Shaun Ryder, Popcaan, Moonchild Sanelly and Mos Def also taking to the stage during the headline set.

Described by Gorillaz co-founder Damon Albarn as “kind of a mad song,” ‘New Gold’ contrasts Australian psychedelic maverick Impala’s breezy, stoner vocal style with The Pharcyde rap hero Bootie Brown’s flow. It’s the second new track from the outfit to be unveiled in recent weeks, following ‘Cracker Island’, featuring Thundercat.

In addition to Gorillaz, electronic acts The Chemical Brothers, Charli XCX, Peggy Gou, Disclosure, Fred Again.., and Kraftwerk were also on the festival lineup, alongside indie and rock greats including Nick Cave, IDLES, and Mogwai.
