Kode9 announces new album, ‘Escapology’, on Hyperdub

Kode9 has announced a new album, ‘Escapology’. It will be released on 15th July via Hyperdub on CD and digital, with vinyl to follow later. You can listen to the track ‘Torus’ below.

The DJ, producer and artist’s first album in seven years is a more club-focused configuration of ‘Astro-Darien’, the soundtrack to a work of “sonic fiction” that will be released in October on Hyperdub sub-label Flatlines. Reshaping the soundtrack work’s abstract form into dancefloor-ready cuts, ‘Escapology’ touches on footwork, drill, dubstep and more in Kode9’s typically future-facing style.

Artwork for ‘Escapology’ and ‘Astro-Darien’ been created by longtime collaborators Lawrence Lek and Optigram.

On 15th July An album launch party will be held in The Carpet Shop, Peckham, where Kode9 will play a six-hour set. Tickets for that are available here.

Last September, Hyperdub unveiled a coffee table book, ‘Zero’, celebrating the imprint’s legendary Ø events, which ran at Corsica Studios from January 2017 until March 2020. Revisit DJ Mag’s 2019 cover feature with Hyperdub here.
