FKA Twigs to star in The Crow remake

FKA Twigs will star in a forthcoming remake of The Crow.

The acclaimed UK vocalist, songwriter, producer, dancer, director and actor will appear alongside Swedish screen star Bill Skarsgård, who plays lead character Eric Draven. He’s previously appeared in 2017 and 2019’s IT remakes, Atomic Blonde (2017), and the recently unveiled Netflix series, Clark

No release date has been confirmed at the time of writing, but English filmmaker Rupert Sanders, whose back catalogue includes 2012’s Snow White & The Huntsman and Ghost In the Shell (2017), is directing.

“i am absolutely thrilled to announce that i will be appearing alongside bill skardsgård in the crow directed by rupert sanders,” FKA Twigs, who put out a new mixtape in January, wrote on Instagram. “I feel so honoured to be amongst such a powerful team and am already having the best time working on my character lewks with the iconic @kurtandbart2.”

First hitting big screens in 1994, The Crow follows a murdered musician who comes back from the dead to avenge his death and that of his fiancé. The Neo-gothic visuals and dark, brooding atmosphere received widespread critical acclaim at the time, with the movie building a major cult following in the years since. Brandon Lee, son of martial arts icon Bruce, was cast as the anti-hero, but was tragically fatally wounded during filming, making the original version his final acting role.
