T.H.E Interview – SHWAY

With the rise of North American artist SHWAY showing no sign of slowing, the acclaimed producer & DJ makes a welcome return.

Also, an emerging & key figure of the west coast’s party culture, an area of the U.S known as a breeding ground for new talent – SHWAY’s releases & sets are both infused with his signature sound, traversing across a blend of vocal crossover dance, club anthems & feel good grooves.

Fast forward to the present, as we see SHWAY kick start the summer season in fitting fashion. His current single ‘Solo’ takes centre stage & the record bears all the hallmarks of another sure-fire player. We caught up with SHWAY to find out a bit more about his latest release & more!

T.H.E – A very warm welcome to T.H.E – Music Essentials, SHWAY! Where in the world can we find you currently?

SHWAY – I live in Vancouver CANADA 🇨🇦

T.H.E – Congratulations on the recent release of your new single ‘Solo’! How long ago did you begin producing the record?

SHWAY – We started working on this track around the end of the summer last year. The idea was to have a fresh track ready for Summer 2023, so we took our time crafting it.

T.H.E – When you start mapping out ideas for a new single, which area do you usually focus on first?

SHWAY – I love progressive house. So, generally it starts with a chord progression and then it eventually evolves into a concrete idea.

T.H.E – In terms of your sound, what single word would you use to summarise it?

SHWAY – Uplifting

T.H.E – With North America your homeland, how much inspiration do you take from artists outside of the U.S. too?

SHWAY – Most of my inspirations are actually European DJs and producers. I’m a really big fan of the Swedish house. It’s what always resonates with me the best.

T.H.E – Do you plan on dropping any remixes of ‘Solo’?

SHWAY – There is something big in the works. All I can say now is wait and see 👀.

T.H.E – With you also being a respected figure on the west coast’s scene, how have clubs re-bounded now the last two years are behind us?

SHWAY – The scene has bounced back with a lot of energy. I’m super happy to be back playing for party people in Vancouver and Whistler.

T.H.E – And finally, any other exclusive SHWAY news you can share with us?

SHWAY – My new single ‘Rizz’ will be coming out in august. This one is more of a club track and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
