Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA drops new album: Listen

Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA has dropped a new album in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer DJ Scratch, ‘Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater’, which is out now on 36 Chambers ALC and MNRK Music Group.

Credited to RZA vs Bobby Digital — the artist’s alter ego — the hip hop icons’ latest is a cinematic-sounding, nostalgia-tinged ode to the glory days of narrative LPs, when records were “thematically crafted like a good book and sequencing meant something, and it is intentional from start to finish.”

First conceived in quarantine, ‘Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater’ sees verses delivered by both RZA and Bobby Digital, with the rapper switching between the two monikers and their associated emotions throughout the track list. Meanwhile, the production leans towards golden era boombap hip hop.

To launch the project, the first single ‘Fate of the World’, has been shared online, and a new website, BobbyDigital.com, set up, featuring a host of immersive online content for fans to interact with. In November, RZA announced plans for his first foray into comic books, with ‘Bobby Digital and The Pit of Snakes’ set to be published in May 2022. Earlier this year, the artist filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against alleged merchandise bootleggers.
