Ukrainian music festival ICKPA announces fundraising event in Berlin

Kyiv festival ICKPA is to stage a two-day event in Berlin later this month to raise funds for Ukraine’s dance music community.

ICKPA: BERLIN will take place at Berlin venue RSO on 25th and 26th June, with a line-up that combines local and international DJs. Among the guests are Helena Hauff, Salome, Finn Johannsen and Adelina, while Christian AB and Quest, and ATEQ and Resom, will play b2b sets. Ukrainian DJs such as Ponura, Udda, Nastya Vogan, Nastya Muravyova and Koloah are also on the bill.

In addition to the DJ sets, the event will see Kyiv-based store Planet B set up a pop-up shop featuring art and clothes from Ukraine. All of the funds raised from the shop, as well as ticket sales, will go to members of Ukraine’s dance music community, who are currently without work and potentially homeless as a result of Russia’s invasion of the country.

ICKPA, the brainchild of the team behind Tbilisi club Bassiani, hosted its inaugural edition in Kyiv in the summer of 2021. Job Jobse, Nastia and Jeff Mills are among the artists who played last year. The second edition of the festival had been due to go ahead this summer, but was cancelled following the Russian invasion.

Earlier this year, ICKPA posted a note to social media on behalf of Ukraine’s electronic music scene, which read: “We, the representatives of the Ukrainian music community, are asking you to not stay aside and to fight against Russian aggression together with us.” It also called on promoters to cancel plans with Russian artists, promoters and organisations that did not speak out against the invasion.
