Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Films is collaborating with A24 on his new album, the team responsible for ‘Moonlight’, ‘Lady Bird’ and ‘Midsommar’, among other movies.
According to a report in Variety, the rapper’s eagerly anticipated album, ‘Utopia’, which is slated to arrive later this year, forms the basis of the debut joint project from the companies. The record is the first LP from the artist since 2018’s ‘Astroworld’.
Posting to Instagram, Scott included an image of a script in its first draft, with the word ‘Utopia’ partially redacted. “Life is a movie. So is this album,” he wrote. “@cactusjack and @a24 set out to bring amazing content for the future. Thru film and media. Starting with this.”

‘Escape Plan’, a new track from Scott, was premiered last week at Rolling Loud Miami. He performed the song while a fleet of drones beamed a QR code into the sky containing a pre-save link for the tune, although no release date has been confirmed. The MC had been billed as a headliner for Coachella’s 2020 festival, which was eventually cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, before being postponed again this year. New dates have been announced, although it is not clear if he will be on the bill again. Last month, DJ Mag published a list of classic hip hop documentaries to watch online.
