The Netherlands has banned public gatherings.

One of the latest countries to take the measure as a result of the coronavirus – or COVID-19 – pandemic, the European nation has brought in the tough new measures until 1st June. Announced by Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus on Monday (23rd March), all organised gatherings are now banned.

Grapperhaus said, “The key to our success is our own behaviour. Do not go out unless you have to leave to go to work, or to do shopping. Go shopping alone. And if you do want to go for a walk, don’t go in a group.”

The move comes after many countries across the world, including the UK, have went into full or partial lockdown.

Across the way in Germany, an emergency coronavirus fund for musicians, worth up to €40million, has been launched.
