The Cause opens new 200-capacity loft venue, Vittoria Wharf

The team behind London club The Cause has opened a new venue in Hackney Wick.

The 200-capacity Vittoria Wharf is billed as an “events and project space”, and first opened its doors last Friday (18th April) for an afterparty that followed an event at The Cause’s flagship venue.

The loft space will be available to external promoters for hire, while The Cause will also handle some of the programming itself, booking DJs to play in an intimate setting. Lukas Wigflex, Charlie Bones and Kasra V are among the guests set to play in the coming weeks.

The venue has been fitted with a four-point Martin Audio sound system, as well as bespoke lighting by Sensory Studio. The team behind The Cause previously used the space for its now-defunct London Loft Party series almost a decade ago.

They say the building housing the venue has been “shaped into a fully functional, multi-purpose club and arts space”, while “still retaining its original character – exposed brick, canalside views, in one of the capital’s most creative districts”.

Announcing the acquisition of the space on Instagram, The Cause said: “For those unaware and for those that are aware, we recently took the keys to a blank canvas, secluded loft space in Hackney Wick and we’re ready to let its story continue. Giving spaces a purpose, a place, is something we’ve become accustomed to over the years, creating spaces for our community to take risks, incubating new ideas with room to let them grow.”

Vittoria Wharf is the latest London-based venture from The Cause whose flagship venue was forced to leave its original Tottenham location in 2022, but later set up shop at a new base in the Silvertown area of the city. The team also opened a listening bar, All My Friends, in Hackney Wick in 2022, and last year took over The Greyhound pub in Peckham and the Marquee Moon in Dalston.
