Teklife releases new album from Chicago footwork artist, Sirr TMO, ‘888 (INFINITY)’: Listen
Teklife has released the new album from Chicago footwork artist Sirr TMO, ‘888 (Infinity)’. Check it out below.
A prolific face in the city’s scene, it’s the producer’s debut LP for the influential label, although he has been heavily involved with the crew for years.
Inspired, at least in part, by travels beyond the Illinois border, scenes from his hometown, Buddhist philosophy and Sufi musical traditions, the record also comes with underlying themes. Sirr TMO’s regular use of folk and jazz samples, a love of cinematic atmospheres and interest in projects that combine science with art are evident throughout the album.
After years playing a central role in the footwork scene, but focusing releases on Kode 9’s Hyperdub label, Teklife launched as an imprint in 2016 with the late-DJ Rashad’s posthumous album, ‘Afterlife’. In 2019 it carried the first release from genre legend DJ Spinn in four years, ‘Da Life’.
