Tash LC’s Club Yeke releases new EP from styn & DJ Rtje, ‘Bobblesaus’: Listen
Tash LC’s Club Yeke label has put out its 12th release, an EP from Dutch producers styn & DJ Rtje.
The seven-track ‘Bobblesaus’ sees the duo explore the unique Dutch bubbling sound, with high-energy rhythms focused firmly on the dancefloor.
Speaking about the record, the pair said: “We wanted to make bubbling in a new way but still keep it raw. We used old-school drum kits from the 2000s and built on that energy without over-processing. Tracks like ‘Laila’ drew from Surinamese brass band and kawina music, while others take inspiration from jungle and grime.”
Bubbling is a sound that emerged from the Netherlands in the ’90s when DJ Moortje sped up dancehall riddims at parties he played at in Rotterdam. Nyege Nyege Tapes has put out its own surveys of the sound via releases from another bubbling pioneer, De Schuurman.
