Stormzy launches multi-purpose space with recording studio and football club, #MerkyFC HQ

Stormzy has launched a new multi-purpose space with a “state-of-the-art” recording studio and football club in his hometown of Croydon.

Built on the existing football site of Selhurst Sports Arena in Dagnall Park, #MerkyFC HQ marks the second initiative between Adidas and the UK star following the launch of the #MerkyFC Football Careers programme in 2022.

This new initiative will bring multimedia rooms including a music studio, changing spaces, a newly refurbished 3G pitch and a sports gaming hub to the Communities First Foundation-managed site.

“I’m gassed that we can finally open the doors to #Merky FC HQ. Working with adidas, I’ve wanted to do this for a long, long time and now there’s a community space that everyone in the area will be able to use and benefit from,” says Stormzy. “When I was growing up there was nothing like this around for young people, so it means a lot that we now have a facility like this in Croydon. Proper homegrown!”

Last year, Stormzy signed a deal for joint ownership of his childhood hometown football club AFC Croydon. He also released the ‘Toxic Trait’ single featuring Fredo and produced by Santan (aka Dave).

In 2022, he hosted his second A Very #Merky Xmas party for Croydon residents.
