Stereolab announce first new album in 15 years, ‘Instant Holograms On Metal Film’, share single: Listen

Stereolab are releasing their first new album in 15 years.

‘Instant Holograms On Metal Film’ lands on 23rd May jointly via the band’s own label DuophonicUHF Disks and Warp Records.

The Anglo-French band have been teasing the album for the past week, first in the form of a wordsearch image sent to recipients in their Lab Report newsletter and then via a series of cryptic Instagram posts that hinted at the imminent arrival of something. They announced the new album yesterday (8th April).

‘Instant Holograms On Metal Film’ features guest appearances from Cooper Crain and Rob Frye (Bitchin Bajas), Ben LaMar Gay (International Anthem), Ric Elsworth, HolgerZapf (Cavern Of Anti-Matter), Marie Merlet and Molly Hansen Read.

The group have shared the album’s first single, ‘Aerial Troubles, which you can check out below, along with the video directed by Laurent Askienazy.

Stereolab recently reissued seven albums of their albums, including ‘Transient Random Noise-Burts With Announcements’, Mars Audiac Quintet’, ‘Emperor Tomato Ketchup,’ and ‘Dots And Loops’.

The band’s last studio album, ‘Not Music,’ was released in 2010 by Drag City and Duophonic Records.

The group will head out on a North American and European tour later this year, taking in dates at London’s Brixton Electric on 14th December, the University of Wolverhampton at the Wulfrun Hall on 12th December, and more.
