Staff at a reopened Florida nightclub have tested positive for coronavirus.

As venues and public spaces across the globe relaxed shutting restrictions following the COVID-19 pandemic, an Orlando nightclub has confirmed that three staff at Gilt have tested positive for the virus. The venue issued masks and asked clubbers to social distance and sanitize, but a weekly “health report” from the club confirmed that three members of Gilt staff have contracted COVID-19.

“In our effort to keep our guests and employees safe, we are continuing to test our employees weekly. For our second week of testing, out of 75+ employees, three tested positive,” Gilt shared in the update.

“They were immediately removed from the schedule and instructed to quarantine according to CDC guidelines. We will continue to inform the public of our weekly test results every Monday until further notice.”

Gilt also said that they would continue to host parties and regularly check staff in the coming months.

The outbreak of coronavirus has resulted in the shuttering, and in some cases permanent closure, of venues worldwide. Most recently, the Balaeric government announced that clubs will not open in Ibiza or Magaluf this year.
