Röyksopp have announced a new album and shared the first single. You can listen to ‘What Else Is There’ below, featuring Fever Ray and Trentemøller.
‘True Electric’ follows hot on the heels of 2024’s surprise record, ‘Nebulous Nights (An Ambient Excursion Into Profound Mysteries‘. The album will land on streaming platforms 11th April, before a triple vinyl with fold-out poster and double CD with eight-page booklet arrive on 9th May.
Featuring 19 studio versions of prominent tracks from the legendary Norwegian act’s 2023 tour of the same name, the likes of Robyn, Running To The Sea, Alison Goldfrapp, Jamie Irrepressible, Susanne Sundfør, and Beki Mari feature on the record.
‘What Else Is There’ originally appeared on Röyksopp’s 2005 LP, ‘The Understanding’. The new version ups the intensity and lands alongside a visualiser directed by regular collaborator Stian Andersen. Footage was captured on location during live shows.
In addition to the new record and inaugural single, Röyksopp have also added a run of North American shows to their ongoing True Electric DJ tour schedule. Toronto, Chicago, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Denver, Miami, Austin, San Francisco and Dallas all feature in the diary. Their final European venues take place this weekend before bookings in Australia. They then return to the Europe mid-February for sets in London, Amsterdam and Berlin.
