ROLI launches new music-learning keyboard with AI Assistant, Piano
ROLI has announced a new music-learning product called Piano.
The keyboard features 49 full-sized keys, with ROLI’s BrightKey light-up system. And, because it’s ROLI, each key features per-note pitch bend and polyphonic aftertouch, meaning you can bend individual notes within a chord, a feature of their famous Seaboard products. ROLI’s BrightKey system is designed to help users learn how to play piano, with each key lighting up depending on which you’re supposed to play next.
The system is powered by ROLI’s AI Assistant which, according to the company, “will help you get started, teach you music history and theory, and give useful prompts on new things to learn”. The keys will glow to show different scales, chords, arpeggios and more so you can practice music theory without reading sheet music.
Connection-wise, ROLI Piano connects to your computer via USB-C, or wirelessly via Bluetooth MIDI. There’s a MIDI output for hooking it directly to hardware, and a sustain pedal input to add more expression to your performance. It also works with all major DAWs and is battery powered for up to six hours.
The ROLI Piano costs £319 for a limited time before the price rises to £548. ROLI Piano and ROLI Airwave are available to buy together for £798.
