Robert Hood announces new album and EP under Monobox alias
News
Robert Hood has announced a new album and EP under his Monobox alias. Both will land on his own M-Plant imprint, with the ‘Forwardbase Kodai EP’ arriving first on 29th October, complete with Ø [Phase] remix, before the full length, ‘Regenerate’, follows on 26th November.
Despite first introducing fans to the moniker in 1996 with three initial M-Plant EPs, Monobox releases have been sporadic since, with the majority appearing on French label Logistic Records. During that time artists including Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Dear have turned their hand to remixing the project.
According to the press information, this latest incarnation is based on the idea of a once dormant vessel rising up once more. As with all outings under this particular pseudonym, expect minimal techno with a futurist mindset.
Take a listen to samples from ‘Forwardbase Kodai’ below. Hood, meanwhile, will play Edinburgh’s Terminal V festival on Halloween weekend. He also contributed to the extensive 30th anniversary album released by Berlin institution Tresor — read up on the club’s storied history in DJ Mag’s in-depth feature on the techno landmark.
