Premiere: Machinedrum ‘KILL_U (feat. Tanerélle) (Anna Morgan Remix)’

Machinedrum is set to release a new remix album ‘3RMX82’ next week via Ninja Tune. Listen to Anna Morgan’s version of ‘KILL_U’ featuring Tanerélle below.

Arriving on 4th March, the album collects 12 reworks of tracks from Machinedrum’s ‘3FOR82’ LP and ‘4#TRAX’ EP, which were released in May and October 2024 respectively.

Remixers include UK drum & bass stalwart Skeptical, former NOISIA member Thys, dubstep pioneer Coki, and Italy’s Cesco. Gaszia, camoufly, BRUX, Chef Boyarbeatz, WHYS, Illangelo, and Mahsiv complete the set.

Anna Morgan’s remix of ‘KILL_U’ retains much of the soothing, dreamlike quality of Machinedrum’s original, leading in with the same sun-kissed guitar lick and hazy vocal from Atlanta-born singer Tanerélle. But she then flips it for the dancers, bolting on a Jersey club rhythm, a deep winding bass line, and a pitch-dropping pit-a-pat-a earworm, before upping the ante again with a breakbeat-powered finisher.

“Machinedrum is undeniably a consistent influence for me since the beginning of my DJ/producer journey and Ninja Tune is a dream label, so this is a full circle moment,” Morgan told DJ Mag. “Guided by Tanerélle’s vocals, I wanted this remix to be easy on the listener yet dancefloor ready, while incorporating all the inspiration I’ve taken from Machinedrum throughout the years.”

Anna Morgan won Breakthrough DJ at DJ Mag’s Best of North America awards in 2023, and ran the Worst Behavior label alongside Bell Curve until its closure last year.
