Premiere: Honeydrip ‘Aspire’

Dublin’s Woozy label will release its latest V/A compilation, ‘WZY4.5’, later this week. Listen to the closing track, Honeydrip’s ‘Aspire’, below.

Curated by label founder, DJ and promoter EMA, the fourth instalment is another bumper showcase of ambitious club sounds of a “dubwise disposition”. ‘WZY4.5’ kicks off with the sub-heavy sonics of No Sir’s ‘Dilate’, ahead of a kinetic club tool from Jossy Mitsu (‘Arena’), Ila Brugal’s digital-only dazzler, ‘Moths’, and the latest bass-heavy heater from Introspekt.

Our pick of the bunch, though, is closing cut ‘Aspire’. A fiery dancefloor stepper from Montreal’s Honeydrip, powered by skanking subs, lithe breaks and her signature psychedelic textures. Get To Know Honeydrip here.

Other artists doing damage across the ‘WZY4.5’ tracklist include Maude Vôs, Chewlie, Beaabea and Mantra. You can hear the full compilation from 3rd October – pre-order here.

The 9-tracker follows 2023’s compilation ‘WZY2.5’, which championed artists with an original and exploratory flair. DJ Mag premiered the compilation’s opening track, MSJY’s ‘Shrimp Walk’, here.

It also wraps up a landmark summer season for Woozy head honcho EMA, who’s taken her DJing to new heights at festivals including RALLY, AVA, Outlook and Waterworks. Catch her performing later this month at Index in Dublin and Manchester’s Hidden before hopping over to Portland, Oregan for Osmosis in the trees 2024. Check out EMA’s full live schedule here.

‘WZY2.5’ is out 3rd October. Have an exclusive first listen to Honeydrip’s ‘Aspire’ below.
