Premiere: ex.sses ‘bite down’

ex.sses returns to London’s TT Label next month with the ‘undo me’ EP. Listen to ‘bite down’ below.

The experimental electronic DJ, producer, Netil Radio resident and Sisu crew member follows their impressive 2022 two-tracker for TT with a six-track suite that explores feelings of yearning and loss, expressing them through tense, fractured beats, glitching vocalisations and ghostly ambience. Rhythms contort, cave in and explode by turns, like crumbling collages of techno, dubstep and haunted R&B. They conjure a sound that vibrates with frustration and pain, but promises catharsis.

From the billowing bass growls and choral chimes of opener ‘below the membrane’, through the relentless kicks of ‘bite down’, to the tripped out rumble of ‘enhance (for Yao)’, this is physical music at its core, and will sound immense on a big system. The title track, meanwhile, features an aching vocal performance from Bonnie, serving as the EP’s striking centrepiece.

To celebrate the EP’s release, a launch party will take place on South London’s Ormside Projects on 8th November featuring sets from Ans M, maya, vika, Alo3 and ex.sses. Tickets for that are available here.

‘undo me’ will be released on 3rd November. Pre-order it here.

Last month, ex.sses featured as one of DJ Mag’s emerging artists you need to hear.
