Premiere: Destrata ‘Amp Service’

Premiere: Destrata ‘Amp Service’

Destrata will release a new EP, ‘Keepsake’, on London’s Scuffed Recordings later this week. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Amp Service’ below.

A year on from his excellent ‘Mutationist’ EP, the Vancouver native returns to the imprint with three new fizzing club workouts. This time around, his signature leftfield bass meets techno sound comes varnished with a melodic gloss finish, primed to have hands drifting towards the sky. Soaring synths, punchy peak-time drums, and deep, warping bass lines are in full flow across the release, which follows up a series of head-turning singles from the producer, including August’s ‘Snap’ for Of Paradise, and the colourful and collaborative, ‘Semillas y Clavos’, with Mexico’s Ultima Esuna.

Our pick of the bunch is the head-scrambling ‘Amp Service’. A proper late-night heater with bold, pulsating rhythms, tripped-out vocals, and some seriously burly low-end. For fans of UK funky, Rinse FM resident SUCHI’s remix of the title cut is also not to be missed.

‘Keepsake’ – out tomorrow (Friday, 23rd August) – is the latest offering from London label Scuffed Recordings, following playful releases from Maude VôsDanny GoligerTheoristField Motion and more. Read an interview with label bosses, Ian DPM and Wager, and listen to a mix of tracks from its catalogue, for DJ Mag’s Sound Of series here.

‘Keepsake’ is out 23rd August via Scuffed Recordings. Pre-save the EP here, and have an exclusive first listen to ‘Amp Service’ below.
