Pirate launches cable-free solution to record DJ sets to the cloud using only your phone

Pirate has launched a cable-free solution to record DJ sets to the cloud using only your phone.

CAPTURE.AUDIO aims to make recording more accessible to beginner DJs and works by adding an audio device to their studio mixers while your phone connects to the computer over WiFi, functioning as a remote to start and stop recordings. Mixes are recorded onto the onboard SSD and then stored in your Pirate account to download.

The tool is currently available in Bristol, parts of London (Hackney, Tottenham, Dalston, Earlsfield, Croydon), Glasgow, and Leeds, with a roll-out across all of Pirate’s UK, US and Germany studios due before the end of 2022.

Dr Dubplate tested the tool at Pirate Bristol, speaking about using CAPTURE.AUDIO, he said: “It makes the process of recording effortless which is especially great for DJs that are getting started. I love the fact that you click a link and then hit record. You really couldn’t make the process any easier!”

Pirate have also launched a new Capture mix series recorded entirely using the tool, with London-based DJ Amaliah the first to get behind the decks at Pirate Dalston, and with sets from Kiara Scuro, Vanessa Maria, Lewis Lowe, Kincaid, and more on the way.

Earlier this year, Pirate launched their new Project Fund initiative, which offers artists free studio time throughout 2022. They also extended their support to Ukrainian artists in the UK and Germany by granting them free access to their practice and production facilities.
