Paul Oakenfold announces memoir, Ready Steady Go: My Unstoppable Journey in Dance

Paul Oakenfold has announced the publication of a memoir, ‘Ready Steady Go: My Unstoppable Journey in Dance’, which will be published by Welbeck and arrive in stores on 18th August.

Chronicling the chart-topping, stadium-filling DJ, producer and label owner’s journey from raving in New York and London clubs in the ’80s, through a well-documented pilgrimage to Ibiza where he was introduced to the island’s Balearic sound, onto his emergence as one of the key figures in the global dance and trance scene of the mid-late 1990s, fans can expect a personal account of three decades in electronic music.

The work also touches on Oakenfold’s experience with dyslexia, and how the condition has impacted his career and choices. The book follows on from his latest album, ‘Shine On’, which landed in January, and will coincide with both an autumn North American tour in support of New Order and Pet Shop Boys, and UK summer dates including Glastonbury and Creamfields festivals.

“In a career like mine you don’t get many chances to stop and reflect on what you’ve achieved. Writing this book has given me the opportunity to reminisce on the many wild moments in my career from DJing at Stonehenge and the base camp of Mount Everest, to working with legends like Madonna, U2 and many more, to running my own record label,” said Oakenfold. “It’s also made me think more about the crucial personal moments in my life that had more of an impact on me than I first thought, like growing up with dyslexia. That’s something that set me on a creative path that I owe a lot of my career to. I feel privileged to share my life stories with you and there’s many more already in the making for the next memoir.”
