Paris is getting a new warehouse venue, Vault

Paris is set to get a new warehouse venue, Vault, with the crew behind label and record store Yoyaku in charge of the space, which opens for the first time on Saturday 7th May.

The launch event runs from 8PM to 6AM, and will feature London house-disco-boogie expert Dustin, Berlin’s ERIS (Enrica Falqui and Dea Dvornik), and Joule Imprint head Janeret in the booth. Craig Richards, Nicolas Lutz, Youandewan, Rhadoo, and Sugar Free are among the names confirmed for later dates, with more to be announced in the coming weeks and months.

Music aside, punters can expect around 2,400 square metres of building to party in, with indoor and open air events set to be held twice monthly at the address, located in the northeastern suburb of Le Bourget, six miles from the French capital’s epicentre.

The opening is a welcome breath of fresh air in the Parisian scene, which has suffered significant losses even before the pandemic, including Seine-side institution Concréte which closed for good in 2019. The same year, authorities passed new laws which have been dubbed “anti-rave”, with comparisons drawn to the UK’s notorious Criminal Justice Act 1994. In more positive news from the country, a campaign is underway to recognise French nightclubs as cultural institutions.
