A new documentary traces the history and evolution of UK garage. Watch the trailer below.

25 Years Of UK Garage, out 5th December on digital platforms, follows the formation of UK garage and how it grew in popularity and influence at home and abroad. A Platinum Pictures production, the 85-minute documentary is directed by Terry Stone and Richard Turner.

There’s appearances from key UKG figures like So Solid Crew, Lisa Maffia, Ms. Dynamite, Scott Garcia, Dane Bowers, MC Creed, Majestic, Heartless Crew, MC Bushkin, Megaman and more. Actor Richie Campbill and boxer Anthony Joshua also feature.

There’s been a string of UK-centric music documentaries in recent months. Released in late summer, The Rest Is History documented the early years of jungle and drum & bass; a five-part BET/My5 series highlights The Evolution of Black British Music, segmented by genre; and Fatboy Slim put out a film celebrating the 20th anniversary of his Big Beach Boutique party.

In 2019, Daniel Dylan Wray spoke to Conducta, Anz, Finn, Sharda and more about the new school of UKG. Revisit the feature here.
