Never Normal Records and Uganda’s ANTI-MASS collective release collaborative compilation, ‘Gukuba’: Listen

Never Normal Records and Uganda’s ANTI-MASS collective have released a new collaborative compilation, ‘Gukuba’.

The project collects over a year’s worth of musical exchanges between East African and Afro-diasporic artists in the North America. As explained by the collectives, the compilation aims to focus “on new approaches to dance, sound and rhythms between Africa and the global Black Diaspora”.

To mark the release, a new video for Suzi Analogue, Turkana and Queens D. Light’s collaborative track, ‘Make It Shake’, has been released. Check it out below.

Other artists appearing on the compilation include Authentically Plastic, Nsasi, Tayhana, Heavee, Eleveation, Safiyahh and NO EYES, with most appearing several times in a collaborative capacity. Listen below and pick up a copy of ‘Gukuba’ via Bandcamp.

Never Normal Records is an an analogue-format music label founded by Suzi Analogue and ANTI-MASS is a queer music collective based in Kampala. Read more about Suzi Analogue in our Recognise feature.

Last year, queer/trans rapper and multi-disciplinary artist KHX05 shared a collection of remixes from their ‘BLXCK KXT’ EP on Never Normal Records.
