Netflix releases fictionalised show about Spotify: Watch

The Playlist, the Swedish series about the creation of Spotify, is out now on Netflix.

The fictionalised show, based on the 2021 book by Swedish journalists Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud, is split into six parts telling the story of how Daniel Ek and his business partners founded the company. The 45-minute episodes cover not only the ideation and programming, but also the key legal and rights issues, as well as streaming’s impact on artists’ livelihoods.

Ek is played by Edvin Endre, joined by Ulf Stenberg, Gizem Erdogan, Joel Lützow, Christian Hillborg and singer Janice Kamya Kavander. The series is directed by Per-Olav Sørensen.

In August, Spotify launched a new ticket-selling website for live events.
