Mxshi Mo and Fiyahdred link up on new single, ‘Kind To You’, on More Time: Listen

Mxshi Mo has linked up with Fiyahdred for a new EP on Ahadadream and Sam Interface’s More Time label.

The two-track ‘Kind To You’ takes in the collaborative title track from the duo, as well as a solo cut by Mxshi Mo, called ‘Saviour’. It marks Mxshi Mo’s third full release for More Time, following 2019’s ‘3201’ and ‘Zulu Science’.

The tracks on the EP blend elements of gqom and amapiano. Speaking about the title track, Mxshi Mo said “I made the instrumental in 2019 just after Christmas. I started with the chord progression that plays throughout the entire instrumental.

“It was a very dark time as I had lost a family member and experienced a break-up from a seven year relationship. All I could think about was dark chord progressions and a laid back groove that was inspired by ’90s house and old school Kwaito. There is such a nostalgic vibe with those styles of music.”

Fiyahdred, whose track ‘Wining Train’ we premiered earlier this month, added: “While going through the folder of Mxshi’s beats, I heard the ‘dark piano’ instrumental and knew it was going to be a perfect fit for some lyrics I had written a while back. It came together so smoothly.”

You can listen to both tracks from the EP below.
