Mr. G explores sound system culture on new album, ‘The Fifth Chakra (Ambient Space Tek)’

Mr. G has a new album on the way via his own Phoenix G imprint.

Spanning 10 tracks, ‘The Fifth Chakra (Ambient Space Tea)’ explores sound system culture, covering one of the British-Jamaican artist’s biggest influences. The record is largely beatless and focuses on the power of sub-bass and other electronics, moving away from the percussive house energy of much of his past material.

“Never did I think I’d get to a meditative place and learn restraint,” Mr. G, real name Colin McBean, said in a statement. “This is the album I’ve always wanted to make, never thinking I could.

“Also, after loving others’ bass-heavy albums, it’s a joy to put my own in the mix. I always remember my thing is weight and tone in whatever I take on. Especially in this flat, compressed world.”

‘The Fifth Chakra (Ambient Space Tek)’ will be released on 25th October. You can listen to the album’s lead track, ‘He’s Friend……..(And More)’, below.
