Moog and UJAM collaborate on new $19 charity plug-in

Moog and UJAM  have teamed up on a new plug-in called Vox Humana. The plug is priced at $19, with all proceeds from sales going to the Bob Moog Foundation, a non-profit organisation set up by Bob Moog’s daughter Michelle Moog-Koussa.

The plug channels a very specific preset used on Gary Numan’s iconic track, ‘Cars’, originally played on the Polymoog synth. While the plug-in only features one ‘sound’, it has a variety of controls including four different versions of it: Original, Bright, Octaves and Hollow. It also features three effects — Reverb, Phaser and Chorus — that allow you to further shape the sound. You can also tweak the Attack and Decay.

The plug-in is a one-off collaboration between synth legends, Moog, and UJAM, the music tech company co-founded by Pharell Williams.

The Bob Moog Foundation hosts exhibitions, workshops, education days and more around the Moog legacy, and synthesisers in general. The proceeds from the Vox Humana will also go towards the Moogseum in Asheville, North Carolina, which was damaged by flooding in 2019.

“At UJAM, we owe much of our inspiration to industry pioneers like Bob Moog,” said UJAM co-founder, Peter Gorges. “His contributions to music technology have shaped my career and so many others. Supporting the Bob Moog Foundation through the Vox Humana plugin is an honour, and by waiving all fees, we’re ensuring that every dollar goes directly to advancing its mission and preserving Bob’s legacy for future generations.”

You can download the Vox Humana plugin here for $19. Watch the video below to hear it in action.
