Mochakk opens club, OBLIQO, in his Brazilian hometown, Sorocaba

Brazilian DJ and producer Mochakk, real name Pedro Maia, has opened a club in his hometown of Sorocaba.

Situated in the Parque Campolim area of the Brazilian municipality, the venue, named OBLIQO, is billed as a space that aims to “celebrate, educate and inspire the electronic music community both locally and beyond”. Its official launch party will take place tonight (Friday, 6th September) with an event celebrating the release of Mochakk’s latest EP, ‘Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 – Part II’, on Circoloco Records.

The venue has been fitted with a sound system designed by Brazilian company 4VIAS Professional Audio, with additional equipment provided by B&C Speakers.

Within OBLIQO is a gallery space, which will offer an immersive experience for visitors to explore the evolution of electronic music in Brazil and around the world via exhibits based around a rotating collection of posters, album covers and stories told by DJs, journalists and other music industry figures.

Outside of its usual club nights, the venue will also put on a series of workshops designed to connect artists with the public and share their knowledge of certain aspects of the music scene. These workshops will be led by industry veterans, a press release said.

Festivities at OBLIQO continue next weekend, on Friday, 13th September, with a party headlined by Belo Horizonte-hailing artist VHOOR. Tickets are available here.

In July, Mochakk released the first instalment of his ‘Locomotiva Ibiza 2099’ EP series.

He followed it up last month with a remix of Kings Of Tomorrow’s classic track ‘Finally’.
