Migos rapper Takeoff shot dead in Houston, aged 28

Migos rapper Takeoff has died, aged 28.

The Georgia rapper was killed in a shooting at a bowling alley in Houston early Tuesday morning, 1st November, Rolling Stone reports. Takeoff, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, and fellow Migos member, his uncle Quavo were reportedly playing dice at 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston. Around 2:30 AM,”an altercation broke out”, according to TMZ, and shots were fired. Police said two other people were shot at the scene, where Takeoff was pronounced dead. Quavo was uninjured.

Takeoff, his cousin Offset and Quavo formed a trio, then called Polo Club, in 2008 and released their debut mixtape, ‘Juug Season’, as Migos in 2011. They scored their first major hit, ‘Versace’, in 2013, and their first Billboard No. 1 single in 2016 with ‘Bad and Boujee’, featuring Lil Uzi Vert. In 2017, they collaborated with Calvin Harris and Frank Ocean on ‘Slide’ and with Steve Aoki and Lil Yachty on ‘Night Call’.

Migos’s last group album was 2021’s ‘Culture III’, rounding off the Culture trilogy, and Takeoff’s only solo full-length was 2018’s ‘The Last Rocket’.

Quavo and Takeoff had just released a Halloween-themed video, called ‘Messy’, yesterday. Watch it below.
