Promoter U Understand Me Music is putting on a day party to celebrate the life and legacy of the late drum & bass figure MC Fats.

All profits from the rave, titled In Memory of MC Fats: Peace, Love and Unity – named after his famous track with DJ Hype – will go directly towards covering final burial expenses, as well as the running costs of Fats’ projects and personal endeavours set up before his death.

MC Fats, also known as Singing Fats and born Wildale Spencer, worked with the likes of Chase & Status, Dillinja, Calibre and the aforementioned DJ Hype across the course of his career, adding distinctive vocals to tracks and DJs’ club sets. He had held down a residency at fabric for some years.

Fats passed away earlier this year, with figures such as Andy C, Doc Scott and Ray Keith paying tribute to him at the time.
