Little Simz, AJ Tracey, FKA Twigs, more win at 2020 AIM Awards
News
Little Simz, AJ Tracey, and FKA Twigs were among the artists to receive accolades at the 2020 AIM Awards.
The event, hosted by BBC Radio DJ and broadcaster Tiffany Calver, took place virtually last night (12th August), and featured performances from London-based artists Little Simz and AJ Tracey, who also took home the awards for AIM Pioneer and Innovator awards respectively.
The evening also saw FKA Twigs awarded Best (Difficult) Second Album for ‘Magdalene’, Yaeji receving the award for International Breakthrough, and Moses Boyd pipped as this year’s UK Independent Breakthrough.
Gorillaz’ Damon Albarn also performed a tribute at the ceremony to Tony Allen, the Nigerian afrobeat pioneer who passed away in May this year. Allen was awarded with a posthumous Outstanding Contribution To Music Award.

Earlier this year, Yaeji announced a new productions mixtape, ‘WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던’, on seminal UK label XL Recordings.
