Kevin Saunderson and son Dantiez announce new e-Dancer album, share ‘Emotions’
Kevin Saunderson and his son, Dantiez, have announced a new e-Dancer album. You can listen to the first single, ‘Emotions’, below. The track premiered on Mary Ann Hobbs’ BBC 6Music show last Friday.
Set to drop on 21st May, the self-titled e-Dancer album is the first album of entirely original material to arrive under the moniker in 25 years, and is billed as a sequel to the first LP, ‘Heavenly’. Released by Saunderson in 1998, the original is widely regarded as one of the key moments in Detroit techno’s evolution.
The follow up will go on sale ahead of the iconic Movement festival, a cornerstone of Detroit’s techno scene. The release also coincides with the tenth anniversary of the father and son producing together. The pair shared their first single together as e-Dancer last year, titled ‘Melodica’.
“When I decided to make music, my path was to make people dance. It always will be. Dance is happiness; it’s joyful. It’s a connection between different cultures, races and people worldwide,” said Kevin. “I know it’s in Dantiez’s DNA too. When people hear the album, I hope they hear the connection between a father and son on the same path of creating music.”
“My productions are often deeper and emotive because I focus on the feeling of people coming together, dancing as one. I experienced the unifying power of music at my first Movement Festival when I was 10 years old, and it left a lasting impact,” added Dantiez. “I hope people feel the synergy between the original e-Dancer and its new iteration on this album.”
