Jamie xx announces second album, ‘In Waves’, shares first single: Listen

Jamie xx has announced his long-awaited second solo album, titled ‘In Waves’, which will be released this September. You can watch the music video for new single, ‘Treat Each Other Right’, below.

Out 20th September on Young, the 12-track LP is the follow up to his 2015 debut solo album, ‘In Colour‘. On it, the London producer has collaborated with Robyn, The Avalanches, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier and Panda Bear, Oona Doherty and The xx’s Romy and Oliver Sim, in addition to Honey Dijon on the LP’s already-released first single, ‘Baddy On The Floor‘. The vinyl version will include a bonus 12-inch with five more tracks, including ‘F U’ with Erykah Badu and ‘It’s So Good‘, released in January soundtracking a Chanel film.

“I am so unbelievably happy”, Jamie xx said in a press statement announcing the album. “It’s been a while… and a lot has happened in that time. Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out and then forgetting it all many times over. Life changing events and world changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone… I wanted to make something fun, joyful and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me.”

Jamie xx has rarely released solo material in the nine years since ‘In Colour’. The ‘In Waves’ singles mark Jamie xx’s first new tracks since 2022’s ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN‘ and ‘KILL DEM’, which followed 2020’s ‘Idontknow’, his first solo release since the multinominated 2015 LP.

After the album’s release, Jamie xx will be headlining London’s Alexandra Palace on 26th September. Find more gig information and tickets here.

Last month, Jamie xx hosted an intimate ten-night residency called The Floor at South London’s Venue MOT.
