Istanbul label Müstesna Records has released a two-part benefit compilation for Turkey and Syria earthquake relief.
‘Turkey & Syria Earthquake Relief Comp. Vol.1’, out now, features 25 tracks by artists like Eva Geist, Bawrut, Fosil, Human Space Machine, AnnavsJune, Ahu, Emre Can Swim, Gilb’r, Alessandro Adriani, Curses and more. The second part is set to feature 23 more tracks and will be released at a later date. The compilations are made in collaboration with Ransom Note’s label Dance Music From Planet Earth.
“If we all unite as music listeners, nightlife enthusiasts and all those in between, we will be stronger in size and strength,” the Turkish label said. “Music brings us all together, regardless of our geographic location. We hope that everyone falling under this roof believes in sharing beautiful collective memories, as well as tragedies.”
Proceeds will be donated to Bir Kira Bir Yuva and Molham Team to benefit Turkey and Syria, respectively, following the devastating earthquakes that hit the region on 6th February and took the lives of an estimated 50,000 people and upended countless more.
UK label and party SouqSounds has also put together a six-track compilation, called ‘Disruption, a tool for kindness.‘ to aid earthquake relief in Turkey, Syria and Kurdistan and Palestine Action. Out this Friday, 3rd March, it features Loris, Kaval, Ovid, DJ Double Oh!, Ikävä Pii and GoodMostlyBad.
Last month, East End Dubs curated a 21-track compilation, ‘TURKEY – Fundraising Compilation‘, with 100% of proceeds going to AHBAP, a non-governmental organisation founded by musician and philanthropist Haluk Levent in Turkey. Djebali, Cristi Cons, Priku, Thurman and Wheats are among those who contribute tracks to the release.
