Ibiza’s iconic Bora Bora beach club has been demolished.

Pictures appeared on social media this week showing that the venue’s entrance and the structure that housed its bar were the only parts of the beach club that were still standing. See the images below.

Bora Bora closed down last October after 40 years of being open on the Playa d’en Bossa beachfront. First opened in 1982 by Florentino Arzuaga, the venue was Ibiza’s first beach club, and built a reputation as the island’s most significant dancefloor for free events with a number of DJs often showing up to play sets. Those who passed through to play at Bora Bora included the likes of Danny Tenaglia, David Morales, Todd Terry, Smokin’ Jo, Sister Bliss and Claptone.

No specific reason was given for why the venue closed last year, and it’s not yet known what might replace it on the site. There is significant redevelopment work going on in the area, however.
