Hannah Holland announces new album and short film, ‘Last Exit On Bethnal’, shares single: Listen
Hannah Holland has a new album on the way, titled ‘Last Exit On Bethnal’.
Set for release via PRAH Recordings on Friday 18th July, the record is said to have been born from the artist’s desire to explore her background in composing music for film. In keeping with that, she has linked up with director Lydia Garnett to produce an accompanying short film, which is inspired by iconic queer filmmakers like Derek Jarman and Kenneth Anger.
Speaking about the visual, Holland said: “We wanted to craft something unapologetically for dykes: a poetic, surreal exploration of dyke power and sexuality set in a fantasy underworld.”
Once the film was shot, she channelled the imagery into the music that makes up the nine-track album, which combines drum machines, guitars and various synth-provided melodies. “It was a really amazing collaborative experience and coming together of a community to make something totally unique… and hot,” Holland added of the overall project.
The film will be screened during a one-off club night at London’s ICA on 11th April. More information and tickets can be found here.
