Grammys 2025: Justice, Charli XCX, Beyoncé, Doechii among winners

The 2025 Grammy Awards took place last night (Sunday, 2nd February) in Los Angeles.

Kendrick Lamar walked away as the biggest winner of the night, clinching five awards including Record of The Year and Song Of The Year for ‘Not Like Us’. Among this year’s nominees, Beyoncé led the way with 11 nominations, making her the most nominated artist in the awards’ history. On the night she took home the Album Of The Year award for ‘Cowboy Carter’, as well as Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for ‘II Most Wanted’ featuring Miley Cyrus. 

Charli XCX’s ‘Von Dutch’ won in the Best Dance Pop Recording category, while her year-defining ‘Brat’ took home the prize for Best Dance/Electronic Album. ‘Brat’ was also up for Album of the Year, as well as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (‘Guess’ with Billie Eilish), Best Pop Solo Performance (‘Apple’), and Best Music Video and Record of the Year for ‘360’. On the night, she performed ‘Von Dutch’ and ‘Guess’.

Justice took home the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording with ‘Neverender’, the Kevin Parker-featuring single taken from the pair’s fourth studio album, ‘Hyperdrama’.

The French electronic duo triumphed ahead of Disclosure’s ‘She’s Gone, Dance On’, Four Tet’s ‘Loved’, Fred again.. & Baby Keem’s ‘Leavemealone’, and Kaytranada’s ‘Witchy (featuring Childish Gambino)’.

In the Best Rap Album category, rising star Doechii took home the prize for ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’. She made history as the third woman ever to win in the category, having beat out records by Common and Pete Rock (‘The Auditorium Vol. 1.’), Eminem (‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’), Future and Metro Boomin (‘We Don’t Trust You”), and J. Cole (‘Might Delete Later’). Watch Doechii’s full speech here.

Chappell Roan was awarded the Best New Artist Award, and used her acceptance speech to call out record labels for not providing “liveable” wages and healthcare for emerging artists. You can watch her full speech here.

After winning the Best Pop Duo/Group performance award for ‘Die With A Smile, Lady Gaga used her acceptance speech to send a message of support to the trans community: “Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up.”

“We are thrilled that so many artists in our community are banding together at this time to show support for their fellow music makers and others impacted by the recent wildfires.”

Performers on the night included Charli XCX with ravey renditions of ‘Von Dutch’ and ‘Guess’, The Weeknd with a surprise medley of songs from his just-released album, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, and Doechii with a show-stopping performance of ‘Catfish’ and ‘Denial Is a River’ after her Best Rap album win.
