Gorillaz share new video for ‘Silent Running ft Adeleye Omotayo’: Watch

Gorillaz have shared a new video for ‘Silent Running ft. Adeleye Omotayo’. Watch it below.

The animation was created by the virtual band’s co-founder, Jamie Hewlett, and Emmy-nominated Nexus Studios director, Fx Goby.

Scored by midtempo funk, the visuals take fans into the HQ of a nefarious cult, complete with high priestess and a menacing ogre. The artists battle various minions in a bid to save member 2D from a grizzly fate, with a bottle of Murdoc’s “essence” proving particularly useful.

“Well, chuffing hell! What an emotional roller-coaster ride that was! I can see the headlines now: ‘Murdoc’s Bathwater Saves Humanity!’ Always the plan tbh, just kept it under my hat until the big finish,” the frontman said.

The fourth single to be taken from new album ‘Cracker Island‘, due 24th February, ‘Silent Running’ follows ‘Baby Queen‘, ‘New Gold‘, ‘Skinny Ape‘ and the record’s title track. The full release features Bootie Brown, Tame Impala, Stevie Nicks, Thundercat and Beck.

In December, Gorillaz launched a new AR concert project. Live until the new LP officially drops, anyone visiting Piccadilly Circus in London, or New York’s Times Square, can use their mobile to watch an exclusive virtual show at either location. Find out more here
