Gorillaz announce Fred Perry collaboration
News
Gorillaz have collaborated with Fred Perry on a new campaign.
The animated band led by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, who recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut LP, have sported their favourite shirts from the iconic range as part of a Gorillaz takeover.
The group’s four members — 2-D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel Hobbs — have selected either the M3 or M12 model of The Fred Perry Shirt, in colours ranging from Maroon, Tartan Green, Brighton Blue and French Navy.
“My first Fred Perry shirt wasn’t actually mine, it belonged to Arthur Ashe,” Hobbs says on the Fred Perry website. “Like a cross between Barack Obama and Denzel Washingtonhe was an artist… he had style, he had an afro, he wore a pair of tiny shorts – and, of course, the classic Fred Perry tennis shirt…”

Gorillaz also recently partnered with collectables brand Superplastic for the release of some limited-edition vinyl toys and NFT digital art collectibles, featuring each member of the band: 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel. This follows the launch of the band’s range of toy figurines last year.
