Glastonbury 2023’s ticket price increase prompts statement from Emily Eavis
The increase in Glastonbury 2023’s ticket price has prompted co-organiser Emily Eavis to issue a statement on social media.
Yesterday (17th October) it was revealed that tickets for the 2023 edition of the festival will cost an eye-watering £335 plus a £5 booking fee – an increase of £55 from last year. In 2022, the tickets were originally priced at £265, but the price was increased to £280 due to the cancellation plus inflation.
“I wanted to post about the 2023 Glastonbury ticket price which was announced today,” Eavis wrote on Twitter. “We have tried very hard to minimise the increase in price on the ticket but we’re facing enormous rises in the costs of running this vast show, while still recovering from the huge financial impact of two years without a festival because of COVID.”
She continued: “The £50 deposit on ticket sales day in November will be the same as ever, the balance not due until April. And, as always, there will be opportunities for many thousands of people to come as volunteers or as part of the crew.
“In these incredibly challenging times, we want to continue to bring you the best show in the world and provide our charities with funds which are more vital than ever. We are, as always, hugely appreciative of your ongoing support.”
Next year’s Glastonbury Festival takes place from 21st to 25th June. No headliners have been announced as yet.
Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar were among the headliners at last year’s Glastonbury, with the latter closing his headline set with an emotionally charged chant for women’s rights, days after the US Supreme Court made the decision to overturn Roe v Wade.
