Glasgow named vinyl-collecting capital of the UK

Glasgow is the vinyl-collecting capital of the UK, according to a new study of collecting habits by The Royal Mint.

32% of the UK’s vinyl collectors live in the city, according to the study. It also found that the North East of the UK came in second in boasting the most collectors of records in the nation, with 25% living there.

London, The Royal Mint’s study said, has the most collectors of trainers in the UK, at 22%, while Glasgow also houses the most collectors of rare books, with 24%.

Among the record shops in Glasgow are the much-loved Rubadub, Love Music and Monorail Music.

Sales of vinyl records hit their highest level in three decades last year, according to figures shared by the British Phonographic Industry last December.
