Four Tet, Shanti Celeste, Orbital, more remix The Cure’s ‘Songs of a Lost World’
The Cure has tapped Four Tet, Shanti Celeste, Orbital and more to remix their latest album, ‘Songs of a Lost World’. Listen to Four Tet’s edit of ‘Alone’ below.
‘Mixes of a Lost World’, out 13th June, features 24 new reworks of tracks from the 2024 LP. Additional remixers include Daniel Avery, Sally C, Mogwai, Âme, Mura Masa, Trentemøller, 65daysofstatic and Paul Oakenfold. Proceeds will be donated to War Child UK.
“Just after Christmas I was sent a couple of unsolicited remixes of ‘Songs of a Lost World tracks’, and I really loved them”, The Cure’s Robert Smith said in a press statement, via Pitchfork. “The Cure has a colourful history with all kinds of dance music, and I was curious as to how the whole album would sound entirely reinterpreted by others. This curiosity resulted in a fabulous trip through all eight songs by 24 wonderful artists and remixers and is way beyond anything I could have hoped for.”
Four Tet wrote on Instagram about his contribution: “For quite a while I have thought that I’ve probably done enough remixes and intended to stop, but then this came along and I couldn’t miss out. I loved making it and I’ve loved closing my recent shows with it. Respect to Robert Smith and the band; it’s such a great song.”
Four Tet was recently announced as part of the Glastonbury 2025 line-up. In mid-May, he’s hosting a two-day event at Brooklyn’s Under the K Bridge Park with Joy Orbison, Nia Archives, Champion, Hamdi, Mala, Overmono, MPH and Jyoty. At the end of 2024, he released collaborations with Ellie Goulding and Champion, Skrillex and Naisha.
