Ferry Corsten returns as Gouryella with new single, ‘Marama (Moon & Stars)’: Listen

Ferry Corsten has reactivated his Gouryella alias for a new single.

‘Marama (Moon & Stars)’ features vocals from Saskia Lie Atjam and interpolates the Roberta Flack classic, ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’.

“These lines have been with me for years – now they found a new place,” wrote Corsten on Instagram.

“Gouryella bridges the celestial and the human touch through trance. ‘Marama’ is my latest single of Gouryella, which means “moon” or “light/clarity” in Māori. I hope this track evokes the same emotion in others that I felt when I first heard these words when producing this,” he added.

Forming in the late ’90s, Gouryella — originally a duo project with Tiësto — scored a UK Top 20 hit with their debut self-titled single in 1999. Several other singles were released prior to Tiësto’s departure in 2001. In 2015, Corsten revived Gouryella as a solo project.

The new Gouryella single follows Corsten’s sixth studio album under his own name. ‘Connect’ features collaborations with Marsh, 22Bullets, Silva City (the collaborative project of Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot) and SUPERSTRINGS, among others. Some of the tracks’ vocals are also AI-generated.

Corsten was voted No. 80 in last year’s DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll.
